Lincoln Public Library announces September kids’ activities

LINCOLN – Lincoln Public Library has announced the following upcoming children’s activities:

Fall storytimes begin Sept. 10

Fall storytime programs for children and their parents or caretakers begin the week of Sept. 10 at the Lincoln Public Library. Come share stories, activities, songs, and crafts. Registrati­on is not required. Please arrive slightly early to allow your child to become acclimated to the library before entering the story room. • Toddler Read and Play (Ages 0 to 3): Mondays, 10 a.m. • Pajama Storytime (Ages 3 to 5 years): Tuesdays, 6:30 p.m. • Preschool Storytime (Ages 3 to 5 years): Wednesdays, 11 a.m. • Baby Laptime (Ages 0 to 18 months): Fridays, 10 a.m. Sessions will run through Nov. 16. Daisy returns to the library

Daisy is a certified therapy dog, soft and sweet, who loves to listen to children read. She and her owner Arlene Atkins have completed training with D.J. Profession­al Pet Assisted Therapy Program, and as always they are excited about this event for kids ages 6 and older. Call (401) 333-2422, ext. 15, to set up a 10-minute appointmen­t on Sept. 13 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Please arrive early to allow your child to choose a book to read to Daisy.

Watch some buildable action on the big screen

On Sept. 4, at 6 p.m. kids and adults are welcome to visit the library for an action-packed movie in the program room. Come in and watch as six teens, who are high school students by day, fight as warrior ninjas at night in a battle to save their home. No registrati­on is needed, just drop in and enjoy the show! (Rated PG)

Junior Book Club continues in fall

A book discussion group for grades 3 to 6 is continuing in fall.Join us for book discussion­s and activities. Book club meets once monthly on Monday nights. The next meeting is planned for Sept. 10, and new members are always welcome. The club will be discussing the Rhode Island Children’s Book Award and browsing the 2019 nominees. Each month, members will choose a different title to read from the nominee list. They will be sharing books by blogging reviews, creating Word Art images and character avatars, and playing some fun games. Technologi­cal devices and instructio­n will be provided. Calling all creative 8-to 12-year-olds for Art Club

Kids ages 8 to 12 who are feeling creative can sign up monthly to join us for art projects to take home and to decorate the library. The first meeting is on Sept. 12 and will involve scratch art projects. All supplies will be provided and registrati­on is required. Please call (401) 333-2422, ext. 15, to reserve a spot.

Saturday crafts

Art projects, paint, and creativity, oh my! Visit the children’s room for fun crafting sessions. Kids ages 4 and older can come on Sept. 8 to make a newspaper raccoon, and on Sept. 22 to create a tree using recycled magazines. All supplies will be provided, but space is limited. Kids’ Lego Club to meet every other Saturday

The library’s Duplos and Legos are available for your creative use and to try out weekly challenges. Build, create, destroy, and start again! Lego Club will meet every other Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. starting Sept. 15 and is open to kids ages 3 to 12. No registrati­on is required, so just drop in and build what you like.
