SMITHFIELD — Joan P. (Landry) Emin, 79, passed away surrounded by her loving family, Friday, Aug. 24, 2018. She was, for 60 years, the beloved wife of John F. Emin, Jr.

Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Norman E. and Stella M. (Pelletier) Landry. Mrs. Emin was an LPN for 39 years and received the Nurse of the Year Award while working at Women & Infants Hospital before retiring in 2008. She was a Smithfield resident since 1951, a member of the Smithfield Historical Society and the Smithfield Republican Town Committee.

Besides her husband, she was the mother of Cheryl L. Tong (Joseph) of North Attleboro; April L. McAlister of Smithfield; John F. Emin, III (Robin) of Coventry; Gerald D. Emin (Lisa) of Scituate; Seth W. Emin (Josephine) of Smithfield; and the late baby John Emin. She was the sister of Deborah Dion, Richard G. Landry and the late Norma S. Williams. She is also survived by eight grandchild­ren and was the mother in-law of Ritchie K. McAlister.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2018 at 8:45 a.m. from the TUCKER-QUINN Funeral Home, 643 Putnam Pike, Greenville, with a funeral service at 10 a.m. in Slatersvil­le Congregati­onal Church, 25 Green St. Slatersvil­le. Burial will be private. Visitation Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904 or Alzheimers Assoc., 245 Waterman St., Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906 will be appreciate­d.
