Doubles lead Mount

WOONSOCKET — The Mount St. Charles girls tennis team claimed all three doubles matches Friday afternoon against Barrington to secure a 4-3 Division I home victory.

The Mounties received a straight-sets victory from No. 4 singles player Maggie Kinnear to set the stage for the doubles teams. The No. 2 doubles team of Emily Graham and Isabella Chioto were the only team to produce a straight-sets win, while the No. 1 team of Piper O’Connell and Alex Wyatt produced a 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 victory.

The No. 3 doubles team of Maddie Cataldo and Shibanni Gopol overcame a 6-2 defeat in the opening set by no dropping a game in the next two sets to clinch the match.

Mount St. Charles (1-0 Division I) also received an impressive performanc­e from senior No. 1 singles player Isabella Coppolino, who dropped a 7-6 (7), 2-6, 6-2 match to Kate Robertson.

The Mounties head to Bishop Hendricken Monday afternoon to face Bay View.
