BURRILLVILLE – Voters going to the primary polls Wednesday narrowed the field of Republican candidates running for Town Council from five to four, electing incumbent Councilmen Donald A. Fox and Stephen N. Rawson as well as candidates Dennis M. Anderson and Robert J. Woods, to advance to the general election ballot in November.

The unofficial vote tallies showed Fox and Anderson as the the two highest vote-getters, earning 414 and 368 votes, respectively, followed by Rawson with 359 votes; Woods with 326 votes; and Justin P. Batalon, who garnered 292 votes.

There will now be 11 candidates on the November ballot for the four available seats on the Council – Republicans Fox, Rawson, Anderson and Woods; Democratic candidates Scott Anthony Cardon, Amanda K. Gingell, Michelle R. Lamoureux and Cynthia J. Lussier; and Independent incumbent Councilmen John Anthony Scott and Independent candidates Mark A. St. Pierre and Matthew J. Zanni.

Right now, Republicans hold a 5-2 majority on the Council. They include Rawson, Fox, Raymond Trinque and John F. Pacheco III - who is running for the Dist. 23 Senate in November - and David J. Place, a candidate for the Dist. 47 House seat.

The only Democrat on the Council is Jeremy Bailey and the Independent member of the Council is Scott, who was appointed to the panel last year to fill an unexpired seat.

All four of the Democratic candidates have been endorsed by the Burrillville Democratic Town Committee.

There are also six candidates running for School Committee in November, including incumbents Donison Allen, Alexandra Leclair and Silvia St. Pierre, as well as candidates Victor Bevilacqua, Jr., Sean M. Bouzan and Terri A. Lacey.
