RICCO seeking college soloists for March 2019 concert
PROVIDENCE – RICCO’s collegiate solo competition provides the opportunity for four soloists to perform with RICCO’s chorus and orchestra in the group’s March 2019 concert.
This year, the soloists will perform in W. A. Mozart’s Regina Coeli in C Major, KV 276 and R. Schumann’s Requiem, op. 148 .
This competition is open to undergraduate and graduate students. In addition to the opportunity to perform, each winning vocalist will receive $500. Also, each soloist’s college or university will be given a free half-page ad in the program for this concert.
The Collegiate Vocal Competition will be held on Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Music Mansion, 88 Meeting St., Providence, RI 02906.
Applications are due by Oct. 12, and RICCO will assign an audition time after the application and registration fee are received. The applica- tion can be accessed through RICCO’s website. An accompanist will be provided.
Contestants should come prepared to sing an aria of his or her choosing from either oratorio or opera repertoire. The entrant must be enrolled as a student at an institution of higher education in New England at the time of the audition and must be recommended by a teacher at his/ her school.
The recommendation may be indicated by signature on the application. The adjudicators are three of New England’s most respected singers who have appeared on numerous occasions as soloists with the Chorale and elsewhere in the region.
The winners of the 11th annual Collegiate Vocal Solo Competition will be featured in RICCO’s March concert, Gifted Young Voices, on March 23 at 7:30 p.m., McVinney Auditorium, 43 Dave Gavitt Way, Providence.
