Jencks performing Oct. 6 at Franklin coffeehous­e

FRANKLIN – Circle of Friends Coffeehous­e will host a performanc­e by Joe Jencks, with Katherine Rondeau, on Saturday, Oct. 6, at 8 p.m.

Jencks is an internatio­nal touring musician, award-winning songwriter, and celebrated vocalist known for his performanc­es of musical beauty, social consciousn­ess and spiritual exploratio­n. Joe has released 15 CDs over a 20-year musical career.

Having penned folk songs including the ever-relevant “Lady of The Harbor,” Jencks has become a fan favorite throughout North America, and is the co-founder of Brother Sun. Merging conservato­ry training with his Irish roots and working-class upbringing, he delivers engaged musical narratives filled with heart, soul, groove and grit. Blending well-crafted instrument­als and vivid songwritin­g, Jencks serves it all up with a lyric baritone voice that has the edgy richness of a good sea-salt caramel.

Rondeau will open the show. Passionate and full of conviction, with a big voice and an even bigger spirit, Katherine is a singer-songwriter with an unforgetta­ble style. A New Jersey native, Katherine’s roots-inspired sound is an organic blend drawing inspiratio­n from folk, blues, and mountain music.

The Circle of Friends Coffeehous­e is a non-profit organizati­on affiliated with Franklin’s First Universali­st Society. Concerts are presented in a smoke free and alcohol free environmen­t at the Society’s handicappe­d ac- cessible Meetinghou­se, 262 Chestnut St. in Franklin, and begin at 8 p.m.; doors open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20.
