Davies planning two student-parent events
LINCOLN – William M. Davies Jr. Career and Technical High School, 50 Jenckes Hill Road, announces two upcoming family events:
• Davies’ Future Student Night Open House for Eighth-Graders, Nov. 8, 6 to 8 p.m.
Eighth-grade students are invited to attend an open house, an opportunity for current eighth-graders and their families to tour the school and learn more about how Davies prepares graduates for both college and future careers. Davies is a statewide public high school. Prospective students will also be able to register for a date to take an entrance exam, which is required for acceptance to Davies.
• Parent-Teacher Conference, Nov. 13, 5:30 to 8 p.m.
Parents and guardians of Davies’ students are invited to attend the first of two parent-teacher conferences.
Starting at 5:30 p.m.. parents of ninth- and tenth-graders will receive information on Academic Recovery, while parents of eleventh- and twelfth-graders will review graduation and Work-Based Learning requirements.
Immediately following, from 6 to 8 p.m., parents can conference with their student’s teachers. Parents will have the opportunity to talk with their student’s teachers about their progress by signing up outside their classrooms. They will only have five minutes to meet with each teacher. They should bring their student’s schedule. Refreshments will be available.
When parents get involved, studies show students are more likely to succeed in class, graduate, and go on to continue their education.
