Emily Luther to join Mount Saint Charles faculty as arts director
WOONSOCKET — “The Voice” contestant and Woonsocket native Emily Luther is joining the Mount Saint Charles Academy staff as creative arts director, the school announced Tuesday.
Starting in the fall of 2019, Luther will work daily with music, art, dance, and drama students who are interested in performance or performance-related careers like music therapy. She will focus on both performance and the entrepreneurial side of the arts.
Luther appeared on the NBC singing show’s 13th season in 2017 as a member of “Team Adam,” led by Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine. Prior to that, she earned a recording contract with a label connected to talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.”
“Emily has star power, but what’s more relevant to Mount is that she can communicate to students about what it takes to succeed at the highest levels of show business,” said Mount Saint Charles President Alan Tenreiro. “She earned her success by starting off where most of our students are today and creating opportunities with hard work and persistence – entrepreneurialism. You have to have talent to succeed, obviously, but the entrepreneurial side makes the difference between a professional and a gifted amateur.”
Luther scored her big break in 2011. Her cover of the Adele song “Someone Like You,” made with fellow Berklee College of Music student Charlie Puth, clocked more than 3 million views on YouTube.
