Burrillville Town Council elects new officers
BURRILLVILLE – A newly reorganized Burrillville Town Council will hold its first regular meeting on Dec. 12 with John F. Pacheco III as its president again.
Pacheco was chosen by fellow councilors at a re-organizational meeting Wednesday evening to serve at the helm for the next three years, while Councilor Stephen N. Rawson was chosen again as vice president.
This is the second time in recent council history that both of the top spots on the panel are held by Republican members.
Voters at the general election polls on Nov. 6 elected three Republicans – Rawson, fellow incumbent Donald A. Fox and Republican Dennis M. Anderson and one Democrat – Amanda K. Gingell – to four seats on the Town Council.
They join Pacheco and Councilman Raymond J. Trinque, both Republicans; and Democratic Councilor Jeremy Bailey on the seven-member council, which
is now controlled by Republicans.
The new council will hold its first meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. at Town Hall, 103 Harrisville Main St., Harrisville.
The council’s re-organizational meeting Tuesday was held immediately after the newly-elected members of both the council and the School Committee were administered the oath of office by Police Chief Stephen Lynch.
The four new members of the School Committee who took the oath of office were incumbents Sylvia A. St. Pierre, Alexandra Leclair and Donison L. Allen, and candidates Sean M. Bouzan and Terri A. Lacey
The council also appointed William C. Dimitri as town solicitor; and Amy E. Veri and Robert Mitson as assistant town solicitors.
Also appointed were Leah J. Donaldson, Jeffrey W. Kasle, Michael R. McElroy and Andrew R. Dimitri to the post of special legal counsel; Timothy F. Kane as probate judge; Kimberly A. Brissette as municipal court judge and William Bernstein as associate municipal court judge.
