Local man charged with child porn possession
CUMBERLAND –A Cumberland man was arrested after he allegedly engaged in a sexually-explicit conversation with a person he believed to be a 13-year-old girl, then was found to be in possession of child pornography, State Police announced on Thursday. Michael Uccello, 29, of 11 Greenview St. in Cumberland, was charged with indecent solicitation of a child and possession of child pornography. His arrest resulted from an investigation by members of the Rhode Island State Police Computer Crimes Unit and the Rhode Island Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, State Police said.
The two State Police agencies recently initiated an investigation involving a man identified as Uccello, who was allegedly soliciting a child over the internet. Over the last two months, he allegedly engaged in a series of communications with a person he believed to be a 13-year-old girl, State Police said. The conversation quickly became sexually explicit and Uccello allegedly solicited to engage in sexual activity with the girl, State Police said.
As a result of the investigation, members of the ICAC Task Force were able to identify Uccello and obtained an arrest warrant for him and a search warrant for his residence. ICAC Task Force members on Wednesday executed the search warrant at 11 Greenview St., where Uccello was located. A search of dig- ital media devices belonging to Uccello allegedly revealed numerous files containing child pornography, State Police said.
Uccello was arrested and charged with the indecent solicitation of a child and possession of child pornography, according to State Police. He was arraigned at Sixth District Court, with bail set at $5,000 with surety bail, with special bail conditions including restricted internet access and no contact with minors.
Uccello also was ordered held as a probation violator for allegedly violating the terms of his probation from a conviction in connection with a previous arrest by the ICAC Task Force in February 2017. Uccello was ordered held at the Adult Correctional Institutions pending a December hearing in Superior Court on the probation violation charge, State Police said.
