Victim’s grandson charged after home invasion
LINCOLN — A 22-year-old Pawtucket man was arraigned on charges relating to a home invasion at his grandfather’s home on Columbia Avenue Sunday night, during which the 81-yearold man was hospitalized after being shoved to the ground during the break-in, Lincoln Police said.
Jordan Palardy, 22, of Pawtucket, was taken into custody on Monday on an unrelated charge, police said. He was arraigned in Third District Court Tuesday morning on charges including first-degree robbery, burglary, and conspiracy to commit burglary, according to police.
Around 9:22 p.m. Sunday, Lincoln Police responded to Columbia Avenue in the Fairlawn section of Lincoln for a reported home invasion. According to police, two men wearing dark clothes and ski masks allegedly entered the home of Palardy’s grandfather, an 81-year-old man, through an unlocked door. Once inside, the suspects – one of whom has been identified by police as Palardy – demanded money from the elderly man, police said.
One of the suspects allegedly knocked the man to the ground and the two robbers then allegedly stole an undetermined amount of cash from the home, police said. Prior to exiting, the two robbers were confronted by a 59-year-old woman, who, like the homeowner, was allegedly shoved by one of the suspects, although police said she was not injured.
The elderly man suffered a head injury as a result of being shoved to the ground and he was treated by Lincoln Rescue personnel before being transported to Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, where he was treated and released, police said.
Palardy was arraigned in Third District Court on Tuesday. He entered no plea and was referred to a public defender, according to the judiciary website. He’s due back in court on Dec. 20 for a status conference and March 7 for a pre-arraignment conference.
The home invasion is still considered by police to be an active investigation, as authorities are seeking assistance in identifying other parties involved in the break-in.
