WOONSOCKET — Sophomore wing Jack Bennett scored nine of his team-high 14 points in the second half and win Jordan Perry also added 14 to lead the Mount St. Charles boys basketball team to a 57-40 Division II victory over visiting Rogers Saturday night.

“They tried to throw us a curveball by switching up their defenses, but our offense did a job of handling it and creating baskets,” Mount coach Hengry Coleman said. “We also switched our defenses a lot in the second half, and we did a nice of frustrating them and holding them to just one shot.”

Mount St. Charles (4-3, 2-1 Division III) only led 31-28 at halftime because Viking guard Ryan Crowley (game-high 16 points) kept his team in the game. The Mounties played much better in the second half, as Bennett, Perry and Danny Johnson (11 points) helped the home side pull away.
