Saints drop meets to Classical, NK

PROVIDENCE – Despite several strong outings, St. Raphael Academy suffered a pair of Bayha Division losses to North Kingstown (91-18) and Classical (68.5-40.4) at the Providence Career & Technical Academy fieldhouse on Tuesday night.

Junior Faith Kizekai landed the Saints’ lone win in the 55 dash (7.76), while freshman sister Christine took third just five-hundredths of a second behind. (The elder Kizekai also edged Purple junior Chelsea Baez by just .01).

Sophomore Rachael Mongeau also ran well, earning seconds in both the 3,000 (11:05.70) and 1,000 (3:25.91). She lost both to heralded NK senior Lily Nunnery; in the 1,000, she nearly pulled off the upset, finishing only .32 behind. BURGO DELIVERS

PROVIDENCE – Senior standout Dulcinea Burgo reigned in the high jump (4-8) and finished second in the 300 meters (47.22) to deliver Central Falls High a pair of Bayha Division dual-meet triumphs over rivals Shea (68-10) and Tolman (70-12) at the Providence Career & Technical Academy fieldhouse on Tuesday night.

Unfortunat­ely, in the same triple-dual meet, Cranston East galloped to an 83-20 decision; the Thunderbol­ts did the same to the Tigers (95-5) and Raiders (99-0).

The only other CF representa­tive to win an event was sophomore Elaine Vaz Ramos, who took the 20-pound weight throw with a heave of 37-3 ¾, though junior Sara DaVeiga did place second in the long jump.

For Tolman, senior Olivia Badwa gained runner-up honors in the 55 dash (8.34), just .26 behind Cranston East junior Giannie Soto. Central Falls 68, Shea 10 Central Falls 70, Tolman 12 Cranston East 83, Central Falls 20 Cranston East 99, Shea 0 Cranson East 95, Tolman 5 Area placements

BEAUDOIN WINS HIGH JUMP

PROVIDENCE – North Smithfield High senior Brittany Beaudoin captured the high jump (4-6), then finished second in the long jump (137 ½) and third in the 55-meter hurdles (11.67), but the Northmen still dropped a pair of tough Dwyer Division decisions to Juanita Sanchez (55-52) and Chariho Regional (61-48) at the Proividenc­e Career & Technical Academy fieldhouse on Tuesday eevening.

Junior Racheal Shaw garnered the only other triumph for NS in the shot put (26-6 ¼), though senior Claire Guertin took second in the same event (24-6 ¾). Freshman Jackie deRonde chipped in a pair of runner-up placements in the 55 dash (8.60) and 300 (49.11), while classmate Sadie Crozier placed second in the 55 hurdles (11.204) and senior Rita Marcotte the same in the 1,000 (3:42.61).
