1958 Coach Omer Landry’s unbeaten Central Falls quintet (12

0 in league play, 17-0 overall) had four players in double figures as the Bluejackets nailed down their fifth Class B pennant in the last six years and their second in a row by defeating a scrappy Cumberland club 74-61. Lanky Jim Tercyak, a 6-foot-4 senior, topped the scoring with 25 points followed by Bill Nicynski with 19, Len Deffew 14 and Ed Arage 10. Ray Holcombe led the Clippers point parade with 16, Pete D’Agostino netted 15 and Johnny Wudyka added 11.

1968 Don Bishop, being employed by coach Andy Boyle in a

“shock” role, came off the bench to lead Lincoln to a 7464 defeat of Mount St. Charles and surge into a contending position for a Class B Eastern Division playoff berth. Bishop garnered teamhigh honors with 18 points, Bobby Sullivan hooped 16, 6-foot-4 John Stafford chalked up 13 points and controlled the boards in the second half, Jim Verdon added 11 points and Mark Hodgkins shattered MSC’s press with brilliant passing and ball handling. Mike Carroll of the Mounties took game-scoring laurels with 25 points.

1978 In their first game after the Blizzard of ’78, the Saint Ra

phael Academy basketball players shed their mufflers and shovels to play host to Rogers, but the SRA defense couldn’t muffle the Vikings guns as Rogers buried the Saints with a 54-point second half blitz, 101-77, in a Met II tilt. SRA had four players in double digits led by John Lynch’s 21 points and followed by Vin Flynn with 18, Claude Demers canned 14 and Ron Dalton chipped in with 10. The locals also dropped the junior varsity game 73-52, Mike Mallon copping scoring honors with 20 points and Dave Moran added 12.
