Pawtucket couple staging weekend show in Providence
PAWTUCKET – Out Loud Theatre presents “Creation X,” an original work that explores the relationship between a scientist and an unidentified species known as The Monster.
The production is the first installment in a three-part series called “Mortals & Monsters” that marks the company’s seventh season.
Out Loud was founded in 2012 by Pawtucket residents Kira Hawkridge, artistic director, and Marc Tiberiis II, technical director. They play the scientist and The Monster, respectively, in this two-person, hour-long work, featuring movement and music.
“Wrestling with the lines we draw between observation, active study and reckless experimentation, ‘Creation X’ explores the internal and external consequences that our actions have when we begin to slip past the laws of nature, morality and reason,” Hawkridge says in a press release.
Out Loud and this production are quite literally labors of love for the couple; they are engaged.
Despite the overtones of one being a “monster,” Hawkridge says the casting “was easy for both of us.
“I immediately felt drawn to testing the boundaries of the scientist, and Marc immediately felt drawn to finding the humanity within the monster. We both felt drawn to exploring this dynamic from opposite sides of the spectrum, and it was exciting for us to investigate this relationship.”
Performances continue Feb. 22 to 25 at 8 p.m. in the theater space at 134 Mathewson St., Providence. Tickets are $25 and available online at http://www.eventbrite.com/e/ creation-x-tickets
