City K-5 registration now open
WOONSOCKET – The Woonsocket Education Department has opened the annual district registration period for students in grades K through 5.
Students are eligible for kindergarten if they turn 5 years old before Sept. 1. Among other things, families must provide an original birth certificate and proof of residency, including a lease agreement, mortgage statement, electric, or gas bill. Credit card and cell phone bills are not acceptable.
Also required: immunization records for diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio, rubella, measles, mumps, chicken pox and hepatitis. Immunization records may be turned in during the summer if children are not currently up to date.
Further, registrants must have proof of lead screening and a physical exam with data about height, weight and vision. The exam data is valid provided it’s dated more recently than Sept. 1, 2018. Also needed is the child’s Social Security number and, where applicable, a Medicaid card.
All students registering for grades K through 5 for admittance into schools operated by the Woonsocket Education Department must do so at the McFee Administration Center, 108 High St. All students registering for grades 6 to 8 must report to the Hamlet Middle School; grades 9 to 12, the guidance department at Woonsocket High School.
