City man accused of stabbing 2

WOONSOCKET – Two people were hospitaliz­ed with stab wounds early Monday and a third individual was arrested on charges of causing their injuries during a chaotic, alcohol-fueled outburst of violence.

Kyle Cross, 25, of 224 Wood Ave., was taken into custody shortly before 1 a.m. on two counts each of domestic felony assault with a deadly weapon and domestic disorderly conduct, and one count of simple domestic assault and battery.

Police said they were summoned to Cross’ apartment just before midnight for a report of a man found locked in the bathroom with a knife. When they arrived, they found a 20-year-old man who appeared to be unconsciou­s, lying on the floor of the living room with three stab wounds in his back. A second victim was a 25-year-old woman who had a stab wound in the thigh and several on her arm.

The female victim, police said, is Cross’ step-sibling, who also resides at 224 Wood Ave. with the male who was stabbed. Two children, ages three and four, who were asleep when the armed melee erupted, also reside in the apartment.

Though he initially appeared unconsciou­s, the male victim came to shortly after police arrived. The two victims later told police they were awakened by Cross having a loud argument with his girlfriend. She told police the two of them started arguing after drinking vodka nips together.

The two victims attempted to intervene, they told police, because they were concerned that the noise Cross and his

girlfriend were making would wake the two children sleep ing in a nearby bedroom.

Cross’ stepsister told po lice she tried to restrain Cross

as the male victim tried to pull Cross’ girlfriend away from him. $round that time, Cross allegedly grabbed a large knife and stabbed his step sister in the thigh and at least twice in the elbow, she told police. The other victim was wounded when he jumped

into the fray in attempts to help Cross’ stepsister. $t that point, Cross allegedly stabbed him three times in the back.

“On the way to the police station, Cross started apolo gizing,” Officer Christophe­r -. 5ooney reported. ut he declined to say what prompt ed him to allegedly stab two people.

“He kept stating, ,’m not a bad person,’” 5ooney said. “, asked Cross what happened and how there were two peo ple that were stabbed. Cross started crying but would not explain anything or provide details.”
