Lincoln library slates upcoming activities

LINCOLN – Lincoln Public Library, 145 Old River Road, has scheduled the following April activities:

Special Preschool Storytime planned to celebrate MoneySmart Week

This special program for kids ages 3 to 5 is being held on April 2 at 6:30 p.m. and will include stories and songs focusing on the value of money. Each child will also make a colorful crafty wallet to take home. Space is limited and online registrati­on is required. Lincoln Public Library Art Club for 8- to 12-Year Olds meets April 3

Art Club is a fun program for children ages 8 and older who love to create. New attendees are always welcome and are encouraged to spread the word about the monthly projects. The group meets one Wednesday a month, and the next meeting is scheduled for April 3 at 6 p.m., when kids will learn to make a radical cup weaving. Using paper cups, yarn, and templates, the result will be a colorful pencil holder. Space is limited, therefore online registrati­on is required. 2019 Spring Storytime Schedule Spring storytime programs for children and their parents or caretakers begin April 22. Come share stories, activities, songs, and crafts. Please arrive slightly early to allow your child to become acclimated to the library before entering the story room.

• Toddler Read and Play (Ages 0 to 3): Mondays, 10 a.m.

• Pajama Storytime (Ages 3 to 5): Tuesdays, 6:30 p.m.

• Preschool Storytime (Ages 3 to 5): Wednesdays, 11 a.m.

• Baby Laptime ( Ages 0 to 18 months): Fridays, 10 a.m.

Casey Farm Chicks and more

to visit the library Children ages 3 and older are invited to come check out this presentati­on about how chickens are raised at nearby Casey Farm. The event is set for April 17 at 2 p.m. at the Lincoln Public Library. Learn how chickens act, what they eat, and more. There will be a selection of eggs for children to see and compare, as well as chicks to pet and hold. Don’t miss this fun-filled event — it’s definitely something to crow about. Kids ages 8-plus can celebrate

Poetry Month in April Young poets are invited to a Poetry Month celebratio­n on April 9 at 6 p.m. This activity will involve writing an acrostic spring poem using dictionari­es to find just the right words. Writers will then place their poems in the center of a wreath decorated with colorful flowers and leaves. All supplies will be provided and online registrati­on is required. Stories showing on the big screen Families are invited to join us for this monthly program in the Children’s Pro- gramming Room, with showing stories read aloud on the large wall-mounted television screen. Each month, a playlist focusing on a particular author or theme will be chosen. The next showing will take place on April 18 from 3 to 7 p.m. No registrati­on is required. The stories will play and repeat so viewers can come in and watch at any time while the program is running.

Lego Club for Kids

The library’s Duplos and Legos are available every other Saturday for creative use. Kids can drop in anytime from noon to 4 p.m. to try out our bi-weekly challenges. Build, create, destroy, and start again! Upcoming Lego days are set for April 13 and 27. No registrati­on is needed, just show up ready to build.

Saturday Crafts are Always a Blast

Young crafters ages 4 and older are invited to the Lincoln Public Library to create fun crafts every other Saturday at 11 a.m. On April 6, make hanging coiled snakes. Then on April 20, kids can get prepared for spring by creating eggs using cardboard, foil, and colorful markers. Space is limited and online registrati­on is required. Come See a movie in the Children’s Room

This month, the featured children’s film will be shown on April 24 at 5:30 p.m. Families are invited to drop in and get cozy while watching this remake of a classic we all know and love. Whether you’ve seen the original or not, this new story of a well-known nanny is sure to please all viewers young and old. No registrati­on is required. (Rated PG)
