St. Joseph meeting of Feb. 26

Celebratin­g February birthdays were Anna May Aubin, Betty Legare, Henry Trudeau, Viola Sztabor and Pat Palardy.

The group has welcomed two new members: Jeanne Gamache and Lori Langevin

Under Old Business: Membership and Monthly Club Dues are still being collected at every meeting.

Flyers are on the front table for the meeting schedule, meals, and trips being offered. Please take one.

Sue Grenier has a trip scheduled to see the Boston Red Sox vs. the Oakland A’s on May 1 at 1:05 p.m., final payment is due by April 9. She also has a Wildwood trip scheduled from June 2 to 6, final payment is due April 23. If interested please call Linda Deguire at 401-766-5879

St. Agatha’s has a Mohegan Sun Trip on March 8 and a trip to Atlantic City at the Resorts Casino from April 14 to 16th. The final balance is due by February 27th. Call Fran Roy at 401-356-1493 for additional informatio­n.

If the weather is bad and you’re not sure there’s a meeting, you can call Fran or listen to radio station WOON, WNRI, or go online to onworldwid­e.com. Under New Business: It’s Tax Season time! There are two free tax preparers available: Connecting for Children and Families has a VITA program (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance). Income limit is $55,000. They are open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Friday night from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. by appointmen­t only. Call 401-766-3384.

The second one is Community Care Alliance offering VITA program. Income limit is $62,000 and is located at 55 Main St.. Monday to Wednesday hours are 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday noon to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. by appointmen­t only. Call 401-235-7187.

There are two new trips on the table. There is a Turning Stone Trip from November 12 to 14 (3 days, 2 nights). Also an Atlantic City trip with a Radio City Special show from December 1 to 3. See Linda Deguire for more informatio­n.

Meeting Agenda for Tuesday, March 5, 2019.

The meeting was opened with a prayer from our vice president Denise Leveillee, followed by a salute to the flag.

The secretary’s report was read by Trudy Paterson and accepted by Stella Lacasse, and seconded by Helen Bonnar.

Treasurer’s report was read by Linda Smith and accepted by Diana Held and Marian Liard.

Sunshine was read by Jeanne Bastein. Get well cards were sent to Pauline Pelequin Pete Currier, Roger Ouelllette, Theresa Reynolds, Bruce Page, Trudy Paterson, Annette Wolfe and a thinking of you card was sent to Shirley Taft. Sympathy cards were sent to the family of Leonard Cotnoir, Noella Gariepy and Louise Henderson for the passing of her sister. Recieved thank you cards from Trudy Paterson Special thank you to Rita Charpentie­r.

Board of Tenant Affairs was read by David Wolfe. The BOTA meeting will be March 21 at Parkview Manor, speaker will be Glen Dusablon from Veterans Memorial Museum.

On March 29,2019 a driving course will be held at the Senior Citizens Center from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. This is a certified course that could save you money on your car insurance.

Recycling is still an issue, plastic bags are to be placed in the recycling box. Trash rooms need to be kept clean. No trash is to be left on the floor.

Our president Pauline Clancy is looking into a program for health and wellness, which the Executive Director of WHA will provide more informatio­n where and when this may happen.

We wished congratula­tions to Armand and Connie Doiron on their recent marriage.

Birthdays this month were Armand Doiron,Ray Lachapelle, Linda Leblanc, Pat Larose, Sandra Davis, Nadine Cudjo, Helen Bonnar.

Split the pot winners were Ray Lachapelle, Caroline McMahon,Nadine Cudjo (twice), Betsy Peloquin, Marie Darveau, Annette Wolfe, Stella Lacasse, Ken Demarest and Denise Leveillee. Meeting was adjourned by Fran Barrette and Helen Lamoreaux.

Bingo at The Meadows March 25

NORTH SMITHFIELD — BINGO at THE MEADOWS, 2 Village Way, will be held on Monday, March 25. Doors open at 11 a.m. and games begin at noon.
