1956 Chick Silva singled home two runs in the eighth inning

to give the C. F. Aces a 5-3 win over the Bombers in a Pawtucket Boys’ Club-Recreation Department Bantam League semifinal playoff tilt at Central Falls Stadium. Dave Andrews cracked out 3-for-4 for the Bombers. In the Central Falls Pee Wee Division best-of-three series for the title, Leo Dextradeur clouted a home run and a single and Robert Bizier laced a single and double to pace the C.F. Sluggers to a 9-4 romp over Kendall Street.

1966 James ing Club Candelet took top of honors the Smithfield in the singles Avenue competitio­n Lawn Bowl- in the American Lawn Bowling Associatio­n’s National Eliminatio­n Tournament at Niagara Falls, N. Y. Candelet will now represent the Eastern Division in the U. S. finals at Buck Hill Falls, Pa. in September. Candelet and his partner, Robert Smart, have previously qualified for doubles play there. The trophy in a special rink event for women was captured by a Pawtucket team consisting of Betty Hamilton, skip, Helen Smart, Ethel Bursley and Lily Sayer.

1976 Bob Killian of Blanchette captured the Pawtucket Colt League batting crown with 16 hits in 36 at bats for a .444 average. Killian’s teammates Bob Johnston (.429) and Joe Swiader (.362) finished second and third, respective­ly. George Babcock and Jim Pollock led the pitchers with five wins and no losses, with each hurler spinning a no-hitter. Frank Hannouch was the strikeout king with 70, while Alan Aldridge fired a rare perfect game for Blanchette.
