• Pawtucket Arts Fest: Slater Park Fall Festival, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Slater Memorial Park; an open air market' of 100-plus local artisans and crafters selling original, handmade items, food trucks, crafts, family-fun activities, music and dance performances, and the Pawtucket Teachers' Alliance presentation of the RI Philharmonic "Pops in the Park," 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. followed by fireworks.
•The Trash or Treasure Shop of the Church of the Good Shepherd located at 490 Broadway, is open with seasonable merchandise Clothing and shoes for the whole family are offered along with household goods, soft domestics, toys, games, books and much more. The shop is open every Wednesday and Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to noon.

• The American-French Genealogical Society will present a series of workshops at the Franco-American Heritage Center, 78 Earle
St., on Saturdays at 1:30 p.m. The programs are presented free of charge through a grant from the LeFoyer Endowment Fund. Each workshop will cover topics that will help individuals who wish to research their family history. Seating is limited, so pre-registration is required. Reservations may be made online through the AFGS website at www.afgs.org, Today's workshop is Introduction to Polish Genealogy Research with Julie Roberts Szczepankiewicz. Julie will walk you through the steps to top sources for identifying places of origin in Europe for Polish immigrants, phonetic gazetteers for Eastern European research, period gazetteers, and translation resources.
