Woonsocket
• Northern Rhode Island Council on the Arts French Heritage Festival & Soiree; live music, dancing, entertainment, traditional foods, contests, vendors and much more for everyone. The festival will be held at River Island Park from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and the Soiree will continue at Holy Trinity Parish from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
• The American-French Genealogical Society will present a series of workshops at the Franco-American Heritage Center, 78 Earle St., on Saturdays at 1:30 p.m. The programs are presented free of charge through a grant from the LeFoyer Endowment Fund. Each workshop will cover topics that will help individuals who wish to research their family history. Seating is limited, so pre-registration is required. Reservations may be made online through the AFGS website at www. afgs.org, Today's workshop is Photo Identification 101. by Maureen Taylor. Maureen, known at the Photo Detective, will offer clues found in old photos that reveal family history and will place ancestors in historical context. Photo formats, photographer's work dates, clothing, and props canreveal a missing piece of your family history.

• Pawtucket Arts Fest: 20th annual Dragon Boat Race and Taiwan Day, free family event, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Festival Pier; River Bend East Songwriters Festival, noon to 7 p.m., Slater Mill, a diverse array of songwriters comes together on the grounds of historic Slater Mill for a day-long celebration of music.
•The Trash or Treasure Shop of the Church of the Good Shepherd located at 490 Broadway, is open with seasonable merchandise Clothing and shoes for the whole family are offered along with household goods, soft domestics, toys, games, books and much more. The shop is open every Wednesday and Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to noon.
