1953 Backs Don Warburton, Billy Callahan, Stu Douglas and

Don Mailhot, operating behind a sturdy line, zipped off sizeable gains to the tune of 166 yards as Pawtucket East launched its grid schedule with a 14-0 blanking of Woonsocket in a non-league tilt. Warburton accounted for the first touchdown with a first period 21-yard sprint to culminate a 51-yard march. Callahan punched over for the second TD on a three-yard third period thrust at the end of a 68-yard drive. Callahan and Douglas rushed for the PAT.

1963 Ron Demeulenaere scored from the nine-yard line in

the fourth quarter as Saint Raphael Academy’s brilliant but battered football forces overcame a 12-0 deficit to defeat De La Salle 20-12 in a non-league contest. Demeulenaere and Bob Allaire each tallied on a one-yard plunge for SRA with Tom O’Brien and Ray Rainville adding one PAT apiece. Tackles Dick Krzyzek and Bob Maitland, guard Mike Danesi and linebacker Bob Russo were the defensive stalwarts for coach Bernie Pina’s Saints.

1983 Senior running back Larry Cooper was the big gun

(again) rambling for 130 yards and four touchdowns as Central Falls bent, folded and mutilated Ponagansett 31-0 in a Class B tilt. Cooper scored on runs of four, eight, 23 and four yards, while George Otis recovered a bad snap in the end zone to complete CF’s TD parade. Cooper had ample support as Carlos DePina gained 71 yards, QB Rich Casto completed seven of nine passes for 108 yards and Kevin McCann had three receptions for 72 yards.
