1960 Bill Thornhill of Pawtucket West led all the way to the

finish in 11:55 over the 2.3-mile Slater Park cross-country course to take the annual City of Pawtucket X-C individual crown, but Tolman captured the team championsh­ip scoring 37 points to 42 for Saint Raphael Academy and 48 for West. Rounding out the top seven finishers were SRA’s Paul Sasseville in a time of 12:19 followed by Jim Moreau of Tolman, West’s Ray Noonan, Ray Danforth of Tolman, SRA’s Bill Spinard and Al Lantagne of West.

1970 Tim Allen of Shea is the leading receiver among Black

stone Valley schoolboys with 328 yards on17 receptions for an average of 19.3 yards per catch. Rounding out the top four pass catchers are Cumberland’s Steve Lefebvre with 243 yards, John Humphrey of Lincoln with 113 and Mike Colvin of Shea with 105 yards. Jeff Larose of Shea is the top quarterbac­k with 496 yards on 33 of 74 passes, while Lincoln’s Steve Lantini is the leader with five touchdown aerials and a 53.7 completion percentage.

1990 Coach Bill Girard’s Saint Raphael Academy’s girls’ ten

nis team clinched a tie for the Class C Met Division title with a 6-1 rout over East Providence to up their record to 12-0. The Saints scored three points with victories by Laura Karkos (63, 6-1), Aimee Riendeau (6-0, 6-2) and Christy Drolet (6-0, 6-2) in second through fourth singles play, respective­ly. SRA swept the doubles action with wins by Tracey MacLane-Shannon Bailey (6-2, 6-1), Janice Connors-Heather McDuff (7-6 (5-2), 6-3) and Jill McConaghy-Brett Palana (6-1, 2-6, 7-6 (5-3).
