Ecumenical service offered
Today, Sunday, Oct. 20, the East Blackstone Quaker Meeting House at 197 Elm Street, Blackstone, Massachusetts will be the site for the second in a series of ecumenical services sponsored by the East Blackstone Quaker Meeting House & Cemetery Historical Association, Inc.
Reverend Ruth Blais, who serves the community of Blackstone and surrounding communities as Pastor at Christ Community Church, will serve as guest pastor.
The service will begin at 2 p.m.
Rev. Blais was raised in Wrentham, Massachusetts. Following a career as a nurse, as well as raising three children, Rev. Blais received her Masters of Divinity Degree from Andover Newton Theological School. She began working as a church planter for The Salvation Army and followed that service by working as a pastor at several churches in Massachusetts, and a Chaplain and first responder at many disasters. Rev. Blais completed her Doctoral studies in Spiritual Formation at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary.
Music for the service will be under the direction of John Staples of Blackstone. The choir from the Slatersville Congregational Church will join the Millville Melodious Senior Ensemble to perform special music selections.
Membership in the Association is open to all persons interested in the preservation of the Meeting House and cemetery.
