1954 Dick Blais dashed 19 yards in the fourth quarter for a

touchdown and rushed the PAT to give Pawtucket West a 7-6 win over Westerly in the rain and mud at McCoy Stadium. Blais took a handoff from QB Terry Byron and shot off his own right tackle into the Bulldogs secondary, once beyond the line of scrimmage, he cut back sharply, eluded several would-be tacklers and crossed the goal line easily. Outstanding for the Rangers in their second league victory against four setbacks were Blais, Bob Walker and Fred Grebien.

1964 Don Costa scored two touchdowns, one on a 40-yard

scamper, to pace the Cumberland Colts to a 27-0 whitewash over the Franklin Panthers in a R. I. Pre-Teen Football League tilt. Dave Toste raced 35 yards and Steve Nichols connected with Eddie Quinn on a 25-yard aerial for the other Colts’ TDs, while Art Travis, Tim Kennedy, Dan Letourneau and Steve McManus stood out on the offensive line. In other action, Ernie Crowell scored a touchdown and Paul Teklinsky added the extra point, but it was not enough as Central Falls dropped a 12-7 decision to Cranston.

1974 Coach Bruce Calvert’s Cumberland girls swim team
