YMCA offers free month for veterans

Ahead of Veterans Day, the YMCA of Pawtucket is offering veterans a free month to enjoy its full facility branches. Beginning Nov. 1 through Nov. 30, veterans are encouraged to participate in healthy living activities at the MacColl YMCA, Pawtucket Family YMCA, and Woonsocket YMCA free of charge.

“The YMCA of Pawtucket is offering veterans a free month to enjoy our facilities because we value their dedication and commitment to protect our freedoms,” said Charlie Clifford, chief executive officer of the YMCA of Pawtucket. “It is our hope that veterans will join a branch near them, and help inspire YMCA youth to be brave in the face of adversity.”

Any man or woman who served in the U.S. Armed Forces is eligible for the benefit. A military ID must be presented at the Y service desk to participate. The free month is being extended to new and existing YMCA members who served the country. As an added benefit, the YMCA of Pawtucket will waive the joiners fee for non-member veterans who want to become Y members.

“We encourage veterans to explore the resources available to them at the YMCA. Our close-knit community can provide veterans with an opportunity to build new connections, and healthier lifestyles,” Clifford added.

More information is available at the member service desk of each participating branch.
