1954 Weather permitting Saint Raphael Academy and Mount

Pleasant will play their twice rained-out Class A encounter at McCoy Stadium. Coach Bob Condon’s offensive wall starts Charlie Olobri and Bob LaChapelle at the ends, Doug “Red” O’Brien and Ron Schoenfeld at the tackles, Jack Eckert and Don Payton at the guards and Mike Cronin at center. In the backfield will be Jackie Jordan, Tom Coughlin, Eddie Ferns and Vito Pontarelli.

1964 Ron Campanelli scampered 35, 50 and 21 yards for

touchdowns behind the blocking of Joe Gamba, Brian Malo and Joe Braganca to lead the Darlington Braves to a 26-6 romp over the Smithfield Raiders in a R. I. Pre-Teen Football League encounter. Drew Dyer tallied the other Braves’ TD on a 20-yard pass from QB Joe McIntyre. In other action, Ray Massey raced 33 yards with a pass from QB John LaSalle and Jim Feeley scored on a five-yard double reverse, but it was not enough as the Pawtucket Crusaders bowed to the Warwick Corvettes 20-13.

1974 Many golfers can’t even drive the par-3, 18th green at

Stone-E Lea Golf Course in Attleboro but Dave Landry of Pawtucket not only drives the green, he finds the hole. The card lists the hole as 240 yards though it played about 205 yards from the markers used Thursday, according to owner Leo Lapierre. Landry stroked a three-wood for his hole-in-one, the same club he used in scoring his ace earlier this year. Landry chalked up his second ace of the season playing with his brother, Al.
