Palagi enabled the undefeated Cumberland girls’ basketball team to stave off upset-minded Bay View and post a 48-45 victory in their Class A Northern Division game. With Bengals’ ace center Theresa Langlois fouling out two minutes into the last quarter, Pereira, who finished with 11 points, proceeded to spur her teammates on with her aggressive work under the boards and Palagi tallied 10 of her 14 points in the last period to overcome a 38-29 third quarter deficit. Martha Lynch took game-high honors with 16 points.
