Lincoln High Class of 2020 celebrates commencement
LINCOLN – It was a commencement ceremony that adhered to socially distancing guidelines. How the final chapter unfolded shouldn’t cast a pall over the accomplishments of the Lincoln High 6chool Class of 2020 during their four years together.
“While our program is much different, the current circumstances do not in any way diminish the achievements of our students, or the pride we feel for them and their families,” said first-year Principal Robert Mezzanotte, who presided over five days of graduation ceremonies for the 244 members on June 8-12. On Wednesday, the entire class finally came together as a unit via a video that captured every student’s proud moment.
Additionally, the Class of 2020 held a car parade Wednesday night. The route started on Higginson Ave. and progressed past the high school before wrapping up at Manville Park.
“The Lincoln High 6chool Class of 2020 has carried on our school’s great tradition of achievement, character, and service. They have demonstrated incredible pride and resiliency, especially during the last months of their senior year,” said Mezzanotte.
As for the actual pomp and circumstance, every effort was made to maintain a degree of normalcy for a group of students that was forced to adjust and make do during the final months of their high school careers.
With the town’s middle school serving as the backdrop for the 2020 ceremony, the tradition of walking across a bridge that serves as the symbolic conclusion of one chapter with a brand new one on the horizon was still afforded
