Bellingham signs agreement with pot cultivation firm
BELLINGHAM The town has signed a second host community agreement with Frozen 4, LLC, the company that is preparing to open a cannabis cultivation and manufacturing facility on William Way.
The first host community agreement to allow cultivation at 6 William Way and product manufacturing at 4 William Way was signed by the town in -anuary . That agreement will pay the town million, or , each year, for five years. The second host community agreement signed by the selectmen last week allows the company to include product delivery services using upwards of vans to locations outside of Bellingham for an additional
million to be paid to the town over five years.
To be licensed by the state, a marijuana establishment must execute a host community agreement with the municipality in which it intends to be located. A host community agreement allows municipalities to essentially set parameters on the operation of a marijuana business and establish an annual impact fee to the town to offset the risks of a marijuana business.
“I don’t know why we wouldn’t sign this second host community agreement because the delivery services would have zero impact on the cultivation and manufacturing operations there,´ Town Administrator 'enis C. Fraine told the board.
“All indications are is that they are going through the Cannabis Control Commission process and do have their approval from the CCC for the delivery services pending our approval.´
