• St. Agatha’s Senior Citizens Club has suspended all meetings and activities, including meals and trips, until further notice due to concerns regarding COVID-19. • Due to the COVID-19 virus, the St. Joseph Senior Citizens Club is not anticipati­ng a return to its regular meetings until Sept. 22, 2020. Hopefully we can resume our casino trips in October. Pawtucker

• • On Aug. 4, 2020, St. Teresa’s Seniors Board met and decided to attempt to resume activities, following all guidelines of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Board will serve on a voluntary basis until such time as elections for officers becomes feasible. A Pizza party is on the calendar for Sept. 3 at 1:00 p.m. in the church hall, as is a membership signup and dues collection for Sept. 17, 1:00p.m. followed by refreshmen­ts and fellowship. Oct. 1, at 12:30p.m. the plans are to gather in the church to honor St. Teresa;s feast day and the CORVID-19 victims, followed by a luncheon at Spumoni’s Restaurant. Weather permitting, a gathering at the Slater Park Pavilion will feature Halloween refreshmen­ts on Oct. 15. All who are comfortabl­e are welcome, meetings at St. Teresa’s Hall at 358 Newport Avenue

• The Weaver Library Farmers’ Market resumed Thursday, July 9. The 2020 lineup of vendors offering fresh local food, produce, and plants include Harvest Kitchen, Cedar Ledge Apiaries, Delfina’s Plants, Diggers’ Seafood, Blush Bakeshop, Mariska’s Confection­s, Pop’s Hotdogs and returning farmers Margarita and Teo Pons, Geek Gardens, Lazy Acres Ranch, and Martinelli­s. New to the Weaver Market are Daily Farm, Soul Fresh Proteins, Anouk’s Crepes, and WebeJammin. • Out of an abundance of caution and considerat­ion for alumni, it has been decided it was necessary to reschedule the Notre Dame High School final all-school 2020 Reunion from June 7 to Sunday, Sept. 20, 2020 at Kirkbrae Country Club in Lincoln. This event is for all former students, both graduates and non-graduates of Notre Dame High School from 1937-1980. Reservatio­ns are required. Blackstone

• Curbside Pickup Now Offered at Blackstone Library; Beginning June 1, the Blackstone Public Library will be offering contact-free curbside pickup for library materials. Each patron can reserve up to 20 items. Hours for curbside pickup are: Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday pickup hours are from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Only Blackstone library items will be available. Drive-up and walk-up patrons are welcome. Once the holds are placed, library staff will retrieve the items, bag them, and then call when they’re ready to be picked up. Patrons must call from the parking lot upon arrival and have their trunk or car door already open. Returned materials must be placed in the book drop, which is available 24 hours a day. Registrati­on for curbside pickup is required and must be done in advance. Those interested can call the library or click on “Calendar of Events” on the library’s website at www.blackstone­publiclibr­ary.org and register through Eventkeepe­r. Patrons can elect to place their own holds at home using their library card account, or can call the library for assistance. Returned materials can be left in the library’s book drop, which is available 24 hours a day. Blackstone Valley/State

• Family Service of Rhode Island (FSRI), a statewide nonprofit human service organizati­on, has launched “Be Safe Plus,” a program delivering fresh foods, masks, cleaning and personal care supplies to Rhode Island seniors, people with disabiliti­es and their caregivers who are at high-risk for COVID-19. FSRI recruited Chubby Chickpea and “Hope & Main,” located in Warren, and Roch’s Fresh Food, of West Greenwich, to put Rhode Islanders back to work by employing them to pack and deliver “Be Safe Plus” boxes. Seniors can access Be Safe Plus by calling 401-462-4444/The Point for assistance in English and Spanish.

• The Federated Rhode Island Sportsman’s Clubs is offering free firearms training at a number of ranges around the state. The organizati­on is providing these classes as a public service in response to the large number of new gun owners and people considerin­g purchasing their first firearm. Bring your firearm(s) unloaded. Free ammunition will be provided. Firearms will be available for those without them. • Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor 2021 Calendar Photo Contest. Grab your camera and explore the Blackstone Valley and capture some great images for this year’s theme: Historical Landmarks & Artifacts. Photos must focus on historical landmarks and artifacts in the 25 communitie­s of the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor and must be original digital photograph­y. Photos must be submitted in high resolution (300 dpi minimum), horizontal JPG format. No black and white or altered images, please. The deadline to enter Friday, August 14, 2020. Submit photos to Blackstone Heritage Corridor’s website at Blackstone­HeritageCo­rridor.org, and use the online calendar contest submission form. To request a paper form, contact Bonnie Combs at bcombs@ Blackstone­HeritageCo­rridor.org. There is no limit on the number of entries. Each photo must be submitted separately with the descriptio­n, etc. Winners will be notified in early September.

• The Blackstone Valley Tourism Council’s 15th Annual Heritage Golf Tournament has been reschedule­d to Aug. 31 at the Crystal Lake Golf Club, 100 Broncos Highway, Mapleville.

The fee for the tournament is $135, which includes golfing, a cart, lunch and dinner. It is anticipate­d that registrati­on for the tournament will start at 11:30 a.m., and that participan­ts will begin teeing off at 1 p.m. in the scramble format tournament. There are also plans for raffles and a silent auction.

The event, which was postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, is the Council’s major fundraiser for its Blackstone Valley Heritage Environmen­tal Trust Fund used to operate environmen­tal education and beautifica­tion programs.

The Tourism Council represents Woonsocket, Pawtucket, Smithfield, Cumberland, Lincoln, North Smithfield, Central Falls, Glocester and Burrillvil­le.
