1961 Dick Heroux and Eddie Heroux, no relation, com

bined for 37 points as Sacred Heart Academy gained some solace in the La Salle Invitational Tournament by whipping De La Salle of Newport 60-42 in the consolation round. Dick Heroux topped the scoring for the Beavers with 19 points, Eddie swished 18 and Joe Dupras added 11. Although without the services of high scoring Vic Fontaine, who is ill, SHA still had far too many guns for the Crusaders. 1981 Coach George Desautell’s Central Falls quintet

broke open a tight Class C game with a 22-3 spurt in the third quarter to defeat North Smithfield 71-54 for the Warriors’ first win of the campaign. Steve Dumas was high man for CF with 17 points (6-for-9 from the field) and also had six steals; Scott Lachance tallied 11 points; Bruce Sawyer added 10 points and nine rebounds; Paul Loiselle chipped in with 10 points and point guard Pete Jarest handed out 11 assists – despite playing with a sore back and knee. Ken Lanik led the Northmen with 17 points.

1991 Stephany Clyburn, Tammy Drape and Jen Bergevine

combined for 38 points, but it was not enough as powerful North Providence defeated Tolman 54-45 for the Tigers’ first loss in Class B-North play. Clyburn sank 15 points, Drape caged 13 and Bergevine added 10 for coach Marty Crowley. In other Class B-North action, Melissa Mazzone torched the twines for 24 points, Courtney Farley snagged 12 rebounds and Amy Reall canned 10 points for coach Jim Bryce as Lincoln held off Scituate 66-53.
