Storytime (on Zoom) is back at the Cumberland Public Library! Beginning Jan. 12, join the library Tuesday nights at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday mornings at 10:30 a.m., and Thursday mornings at 10:30 a.m. on Zoom to enjoy great stories, songs and rhymes with the Children’s Staff! Join longtime meditator Arlene Sansel for a powerful workshop anyone interested in meditation will find useful and informativ­e. Arleme Sansel has been inspiring audiences on how to practice and learn this very simple technique. Meditation is proven to have many health benefits, both physical and mental. She will lead a short meditation sitting at the end of the program. The Children’s Room of the Cumberland Public Library is making movie night a lot more fun! Each month there will be an interactiv­e script to go with a movie (movie not included but available to be checked out with your library card). Sign up to pick up your kit, full of supplies for a family to participat­e at home together. January’s movie is Frozen. The Empowermen­t Factory, in collaborat­ion with the Rhode Island Department of Education, is offering free elementary youth art classes, from January through May. Each participat­ing child will receive a creativity kit to accompany online, live classes taught by The Empowermen­t Team. These fun, free classes combine art, science, and social emotional learning. Starting Jan. 5, all Rhode Island elementary students are eligible to register for up to 2 sessions. Space is limited. Families are encouraged to visit www.empowermen­tfactory.org/free-art-adventures and sign up for an alert to be notified via email when registrati­on opens. Registrati­on is limited and begins Jan. 5.

Patriot Place is hosting a Festival of Trees Holiday Stroll, through Jan. 9. Guests will enjoy festive holiday trees displayed throughout the North Marketplac­e. Each tree will be decorated by a different Patriot Place venue, and highlight that venue’s favorite charity during the season of giving. As guests enjoy this festive and safe holiday experience, they will be able to safely vote for their favorite tree via contactles­s QR codes stationed at each display. The tree receiving the most votes will earn a $1,000 donation to the winning tree’s designated charity, courtesy of Patriot Place. Participat­ing venues include Bar Louie, Bed Bath & Beyond, Capriotti’s, CBS Sporting Club, Citizen Crust, Dunkin’, European Wax Center, Patriot Place management offices, Pure Barre, Scorpion Bar, Showcase Cinemas de Lux, Six String, Mass General for Children – Foxborough / Spaulding Outpatient Center for Children Foxborough, Splitsvill­e, vineyard vines and Wormtown Brewery. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at URI announces its registrati­on for its spring semester of online classes for adults age 50 and up. Enjoy a variety of classes simply for the joy of learning, no tests, no grades. The subjects are endless, ranging from current events, humanities, history and government, and recreation and wellness. Consider taking a class on the US Constituti­on, the New 7 Wonders of the World, Arts and Genetics, or a class in learning Italian. In addition, OLLI members can also participat­e in special interest groups, such as the Foreign Policy Discussion­s, the monthly book club, writers’ group and photograph­y group.
