1970 Rick Cardoso banged out three hits and drove in

three runs to lead Sacred Heart Academy’s 11-hit attack as the Beavers routed Pawtucket West 11-1 in a Metro Division tilt at McCoy Stadium. Rick Croteau rapped a double, a single and collected two RBI and Mike McBurney chipped in with two hits, two runs scored and one RBI for SHA, while the Rangers tallied their lone run on singles by Ed Rainville and Steve Reynolds and a Beaver error. Portsider George Coderre tossed a three-hitter, struck out 11 and walked four for the win.

1980 Designated hitter Dave Losardo crashed a bases-loaded 1-2 pitch with two-out in the bottom of the seventh inning for the game-winning RBI to pace Woonsocket to a 6-5 thriller over Saint Raphael Academy in a Met I Division encounter at Renaud Field. John Carriere led the Villa Novans at the plate with a two-run circuit clout (365 feet) in the first frame, a two-run triple in the third and a line single in the sixth for coach Ed Renaud. Steve Soucy and Al Morano delivered RBI doubles and Chuck Haberle chipped in with a run-scoring single for Saints’ coach Tom Sorrentine.

1990 Shea’s senior ace Roy Hodge spun a no-hitter, walked

four, fanned five and stroked a run-scoring double to pace the Raiders to a 5-1 win over Cumberland and improve to 6-0 in the Blackstone Valley Division pennant race. Kevin Santurri swung a big bat with a solo homer and two singles, Stan Zab stroked a triple and scored twice and Josh Arieta rapped an RBI single for Shea coach Tom Asermely. Coach Steve Giorgi’s Clippers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a hit batsman, a walk, a ground out and a wild pitch by Hodge.
