1969 Paced by the shooting of Bob Messier with 23

points and some fast and scrappy play, the Ten Mile YMCA Outpost ended arch rival Darlington Plains YMCA Outpost’s two-year, 35-consecutive game win streak with a 35-21 Pawtucket YMCA Youth League victory. In other league action, Kevin Donahue and Pat Markey combined for 26 points to spark the YMCA Astros to a 43-24 romp over the YMCA Supremes. St. Martin’s captured its first win of the season as Ron Loparto hooped 14 points and Roger Sadler netted 11 in a 41-25 rout of the YMCA Chargers.

1989 Rod Millette flipped a soft shot which somehow slid under Lincoln goalie Scott Cline for the game-winning goal at 4:56 of sudden-death OT as Woonsocket edged the previously undefeated Lions 5-4. Millette and Brad Scully each scored a pair of goals and Jeff Goulet added another for the Villa Novans. Eric Oziemblewski, Steve Tellier, Brian Duphiney and Tim Quinn scored goals for Lincoln coach Ross Brooks.

1999 Amanda Charest and Kayleigh Lotti combined for

21 points to lead St. Cecilia’s Grammar Division quintet to a hard-fought 32-27 win over St. Patrick’s and improve to 5-2, good for third place in CYO league play. In other action, Amanda Jo Thompson and Brittany Nyzio canned seven points apiece, but it was not enough as the St. Cecilia’s Midget A team fell to St. Mary’s of Seekonk 31-16. St. Cecilia’s Midget B Blue squad had its five-game winning streak snapped with a 19-11 loss to St. Leo’s. Lisa Bombardier and Paige Gleason accounted for all the Cougars’ points.
