Den Tente fired a no-hitter, struck out 15 and walked four, three of them in the first inning, to lead the St. Mary’s Sluggers to a 12-0 rout of the Bombers in a Pee Wee B Division game as part of the Pawtucket Boys’ Club-Recreation Department Baseball Leagues. In other “B” play, Paul Church set the Algonquins down without a hit, whiffing 13, issuing nine free passes and clubbing a triple in a 6-0 victory for the Steelers. The last no-no of the day was tossed by Ted Hayes who fanned 10, walked six and aided his own cause with a single and a triple in a 4-0 whitewash for the Cherokees over the Senators.

Rich Masterson spun a three-hitter, struck out 11 and walked only two, while pitching his second shutout in as many starts, to spark the Blackstone Valley Senior Babe Ruth League nine to a 2-0 blanking of Johnston The locals tallied both runs in the second inning when Ron Laflamme rapped a single, stole second and scampered home on Pablo Dellatorre’s single, and after a two-base error, Mike Kieon plated DellaTorre with a single. The victory lifted the Valley club to a 3-2 record and within one-half game of first place.
