1950

Four Pawtucket drivers, who are among the Yankee Auto Racing Association’s top 12 racers, will be battling for the point leadership when they compete in Seekonk Speedway’s special 35-lap feature for stock cars. Rusty Rushton is in third place with 203 points; Eddie LaRue, seventh, with 120; Leo Boudreau, eighth, with 111 and Ray Boudreau is 12th with 66 points. In other racing action, Fred Crockett of Pawtucket was in the lead when the 15-lap stock car feature was halted by rain after only six laps had been run at the Kingston Fair Grounds.

1960

Charlie Giuntini fired a no-hitter, struck out 12 and walked two to spark Fierlit-Korzen Post of Central Falls to a 5-0 whitewash over Attleboro Post in an American Legion tilt at Macomber Memorial Stadium. Giuntini, a 5-foot-11, 174-pound right-hander, had the first no-no by a F-K pitcher since lefty Tommy Fay held West Warwick hitless in the finals of the 1958 state playoffs. Walt Dusza, Jimmy Healey, Bobby Breault and Chuck Connors rapped one RBI each for the locals.

1970

Bill Merritt tossed a no-hitter and struck out 13 while Jim O’Donnell belted two home runs to spark the Indians to a 10-0 romp over the All-Stars in a Pee Wee C Division game as part of the Pawtucket Boys’ Club-Recreation Department Baseball Leagues. In another “C” tilt, John Doherty spun a two-hitter as the Rebels whitewashed the Jungle Bunnies 5-0. In the Midget Division, Ron Pomfret yielded a second-inning single to Jack Clarke and had to settle for a one-hitter with 11 whiffs in leading the Secret Agents to a 7-0 triumph over the Rebels.
