1980 Paul Prachniak was practically perfect in putting the

bite on the Saylesville Bulldogs, lashing two doubles, knocking in one run and scoring twice as the Lincoln Wrecks erased a 3-0 deficit and downed the ‘Dogs, 10-3, in Lincoln Parks and Recreation Softball League action. In a Pawtucket Community League tilt, Ed Flynn ripped four hits and Jeff Calista, Norm Cardin and Bob Beaudoin chipped in with three safeties to lead the Happy Hour Club over Aime’s, 21-9. Larry O’Brien singled and tripled, drove in three runs and knocked in the winner as Gizzerilli Plumbing pounded First & Last Chance Saloon, 10-7, in Pawtucket Twilight League play.

1990 Howard-Rogers Post’s starter and loser Gary

Brunelle failed to retire a batter in the first inning while getting tagged for six runs as Ho-Ro dropped a 9-2 decision to Providence and failed to qualify for the American Legion playoffs. Jamie Doyle had the lone RBI for the locals. Ho-Ro’s heart of the batting order – Doyle, Jason Raymond, Carl Cook and Joel Padin – hit a collective 2-for-12.

2000 Steve Soucy, Lincoln manager Lou Abraham’s

speedy southpaw, twirled a one-hitter with eight strikeouts in an elementary 10-0 “mercy rule” trouncing of Johnston in the winners’ bracket final of the R. I. Little League Major Division All-Star Tournament at Burrillville’s Sherman Park. Chris Pickering finished 2-for-2 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored, Kyle Borden went 1-for-2 with a three-run “tater” and Chris Randall completed a perfect solo at bat with a monstrous dinger in the fourth inning. “We had three round-trippers, and all came from 11-year-olds, so they carried us,” an elated Abraham said after his team moved to a perfect 6-0 in post-season action.
