Valley Talks, a series of biweekly historical lectures by the Museum of Work & Culture, a division of the Rhode Island Historical Society, continues: February 5: Woonsocket icon, restaurant proprietor, and jazz aficionado John Chan will discuss his family’s history and the story of Chan’s Eggrolls and Jazz; February 19: Historian George Goodwin will tell the story of Woonsocket’s B’nai Israel synagogue and its importance to Rhode Island’s Jewish population March 5: Writer Melody Desjardins will examine the relationsh­ip between French-Canadian folklore and current day Franco-Americans in search of a deeper connection between the two.

The Atwater-Donnelly Band will be performing at Stone Soup Coffeehous­e on Saturday, February 25, 2023. The show starts at 7pm. Tickets are $22, and are available at the door or reserved through our

It is always a special night when Aubrey Atwater and Elwood Donnelly come to perform at Stone Soup Coffeehous­e. They have become an iconic duo since their beginnings when they first met at Church of the Redeemer as Stone Soup volunteers many years ago. Based in Warren, Rhode Island, Aubrey Atwater and Elwood Donnelly have traveled extensivel­y for thirty-five years in the United States, with occasional trips to Ireland, England, and Canada, to perform as well as find their songs and dances one by one. Tonight, they will be performing with two other outstandin­g musicians, Cathy Clasper-Torch and Erin Lobb Mason. Weekly storytimes at the Cumberland Public Library resume the week of January 8, 2023. Our winter schedule includes: Babies & Books Storytime on Tuesday mornings at 10:00 AM; Family Storytime on Wednesday mornings at 10:0 AM; Movin’ and Groovin’ on Thursday nights at 6:30 PM; and new this winter, 2nd Saturday Storytime, a monthly storytime that runs on the second Saturday of each month, at 10 AM. Winter storytimes run weekly from January 8, 2023 to February 17, with the exception of 2nd Saturday Storytime, which will run monthly through May. Pawtucket Public Library Teen Center Valentine’s/ Anti-Valentine’s Party: Join us Thursday February 9 for a Valentine’s/Anti-Valentine’s Party! We will be making Valentine’s cards for friends and significan­t others, constructi­ng duct-tape roses, listening to love songs and breakup songs, and having snacks. This is a Teen event designed for ages 12-18. Bring your friends and celebrate love in its many forms! Registrati­on is not required. The Teen Center at Pawtucket Public Library is open Monday through Thursday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Teens are welcome to visit to do homework, hang out, play board and video games, charge their phones, and use the Creation Station for audio, video, and photo editing.

Skills Workshop: Maple Sugaring Training, Saturday, February 11, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., River Bend Farm, 287 Oak Street, Uxbridge, MA. Learn the art of maple sugaring and prepare to volunteer for maple sugar days. Many hands are needed to continue the tradition of Maple Sugar Days returning February 25 and 26th to Blackstone River & Canal Heritage State park. Attend this volunteer training to learn the history of maple sugaring and enjoy a hands-on demonstrat­ion on how to tap a tree. You will get a tour of the sugar shack and receive training for visitor interpreta­tion which you can use when volunteeri­ng for the 2023 Maple Sugar Days on February 25 and 26.
