1951Larry Calabro scored 18 points in the middle periods but

it was not enough as Pawtucket West suffered its sixth straight defeat 73-57 to De La Salle in a Class A Suburban Division tilt. Calabro was again the Ranger leader with a game-high 23 points. In a Class B affair, Pawtucket Vocational, despite 13 points from Vin Brennan and 11 by Dick Nolan, dropped its 11th straight league start, 40-30, to West Warwick.

1961 Bob McLear shattered both the high single (181) and high

series (424) records in the Hamlet “30” Lanes Duckpin House League. In other duckpin action, Roland Goyette racked up the high single of 149 and the high three of 372 to lead the St. Leo’s Men’s League at Al’s Central Avenue alleys, while Mrs. Lourdes Pita registered a high string of 113 and high series of 304 to pace the Adelaide Cairoli Lodge 855 League. In tenpin play, Paul Kane reigns supreme with a high single of 230 and high three of 594 in the Industrial League at the Atlantic “60” Ten Pin Lanes.

1971Claudi­a Lyons had games of 18 and 16 points as Lincoln, defending Northern League champions, posted two dominating non-league wins: 45-14 over North Smithfield and 40-24 over Cranston West. In schoolboy hockey action, Dan Webster’s goal after only 12 seconds of the third period broke a 4-4 tie and held up for the remainder of the game to give Cumberland a 5-4 triumph over North Smithfield. Jim and Steve Clarke scored first period goals for the Clippers while Bob Wareham and Jack Rowbottom tallied in the second period.
