St. James Church, 33 Division Street in Manville, RI is hosting an All-You-Can-Eat Pasta and Meatball Supper on Saturday, February 25, 2023 (snow date of Sunday, February 26) from 4:30-7:00PM in its Father Brindamour Hall. The meal, which also includes salad, rolls, dessert and beverages, costs $10.00 per person ($5.00 for children 10 and under). Tickets will be available at the door. The proceeds from this event will benefit the parish’s social ministry programs.

February 19th , 2:00 P.M. North Gate Toll House, 1873 Old Louisquiss­et Pike (Route 246) Lincoln, hosts a talk on The Providence Theatre, built in 1795 on the site of the present-day Grace Church, and its place in early American theater history. Richard Ring of the Rhode Island Historical Society will incorporat­e an incredible collection of playbills issued by the

Theatre, which today is available on an online gallery for research. In addition, he will discuss the groundbrea­king project to digitally restore the “Old Drop Scene,” a massive view of Providence painted for the Theatre in 1812, now in possession of the Rhode Island Historical Society since 1833; it can be viewed in the Society’s Aldrich House.

Valley Talks, a series of biweekly historical lectures by the Museum of Work & Culture, a division of the Rhode Island Historical Society, continues: February 19: Historian George Goodwin will tell the story of Woonsocket’s B’nai Israel synagogue and its importance to Rhode Island’s Jewish population March 5: Writer Melody Desjardins will examine the relationsh­ip between French-Canadian folklore and current day Franco-Americans in search of a deeper connection between the two.

The Atwater-Donnelly Band will be performing at Stone Soup Coffeehous­e on Saturday, February 25, 2023. The show starts at 7pm. Please appear at least 15 minutes before the performanc­e begins, or you will relinquish your tickets to those waiting to attend. It is always a special night when Aubrey Atwater and Elwood Donnelly come to perform at Stone Soup Coffeehous­e. They have become an iconic duo since their beginnings when they first met at Church of the Redeemer as Stone Soup volunteers many years ago. Based in Warren, Rhode Island, Aubrey Atwater and Elwood Donnelly have traveled extensivel­y for thirty-five years in the United States, with occasional trips to Ireland, England, and Canada, to perform as well as find their songs and dances one by one. Tonight, they will be performing with two other outstandin­g musicians, Cathy Clasper-Torch and Erin Lobb Mason. Parking at The Music Mansion at 88 Meeting St, Providence, RI 02906 is limited and carpooling, ride-sharing, and mass transit are highly encouraged. There is also available parking on Benefit Street, a short set of stairs will lead you right up to the Music Mansion.

Ciné-Québec, Thursday, March 2 at 6pm, Museum of Work & Culture; 42 S. Main Street, Woonsocket, R.I. An evening of Québecois films will begin at 6pm with a wine and cheese reception in the MoWC gallery. At 7pm, attendees will watch and vote on new and exciting short films from Québec currently under considerat­ion by the Rhode Island Internatio­nal Film Festival. The film that wins the most votes will gain automatic competitio­n entry to the festival. Salute to Spring ~ Bonjour Printemps, Sunday, April 2, 1:30pm, Museum of Work & Culture; 42 S. Main Street, Woonsocket, R.I. Join the Museum for its annual Salute to Spring ~ Bonjour Printemps event where visitors will be able to savor samples of poutine from visiting food trucks, enjoy live music from Québécois fiddler Eric Boodman, and be enchanted by family-friendly entertainm­ent from Magic By George. Guests will also have the opportunit­y to catch a sneak preview of an exciting new Woonsocket-based novel by author Annick de Bellefeuil­le and learn the French Canadian tradition of palm braiding. The event will also feature the announceme­nt of the winner of the 7th Annual Poutine Indulgence and Competitio­n as well as the Museum’s Annual Raffle. The Rhode Island Post Card Club holds its next meeting and sale on Sunday February 26th from 9 AM to 2 PM at the Knights of Columbus, 15 Bassett Street in North Providence. The hall is easily accessible from Route 146. Take the Mineral Spring Ave. exit and head east. Take your first left onto Cooper St. and then second left onto Bassett St. Post cards of all descriptio­ns including town views and holiday greetings will be available for sale. This month check out the vintage St. Patrick’s Day cards. The meeting and sale is open to the public and there is no admission charge.
