ALUANON VALLOY>> After a yearlong suspension of parking fees due to the COVID-19 pandemic, visitors to local parks will once again pay for parking beginning this month. The $6 daily fee will apply to all parks that required payment prior to the pandemic, including Almaden Lake Park.

San Jose’s Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services Department is focusing its attention on Almaden Valley’s Albertson Parkway Trail this weekend with a cleanup event. On Saturday, 8:15 a.m.-noon, city staff and up to 50 volunteers will gather to remove litter and debris at the Albertson Parkway Trail at the Purple HIlls and PG&E easement. To volunteer, call 408-838-2859 or email ParkVolunteer@sanjoseca.gov.

District 10 leaders are asking for donations to help the planned inclusive playground at the Almaden Playgarden become a reality. The City of San Jose and Santa Clara County have both pledged money to update the existing play area at the park. And now the Playgarden Task Force, the group helping push for the park’s construction, is calling for residents and local businesses to make tax-deductible donations by the end of September.
