Retail: Thrift Box set to reopen this month.

WILLOW GLEN>> After more than a year, the Thrift Box at 1362 Lincoln Ave. is set to reopen this month. Run by the San Jose Auxiliary, the store benefits the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford. The Thrift Box will reopen on July 8-9 with half-price sales and July 10 with a “Bag Day” sale where everything that fits in a regular shopping bag is $6; grocery bags will be provided. The grand reopening is set for Thursday, July 15, with all-new merchandis­e. Store hours are Thursday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Masks are required, and social distancing will be encouraged.

Presentati­on High School senior Margaret S. Wang is among more than 3,100 winners of National Merit Scholarshi­ps. The awards will provide $500 to $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergradu­ate study at the college or university financing the scholarshi­p.

ALMADEN>> Trenton Jiang of Leland High School is among 41 Asian American high school seniors from Santa Clara County to receive scholarshi­ps from

Chi Am Circle. The nonprofit Silicon Valley Asian American women’s organizati­on awarded a total of $119,000 in scholarshi­ps. The scholarshi­p awards celebratio­n was held virtually via Zoom on June 13. Kristi Yamaguchi, Olympic gold medal figure skating champion and founder of the Always Dream Foundation, delivered the keynote speech.
