Thursday

Well, it’s the lull between holidays. Those glowing orange jack-o’-lantern lights have come down, but it’s only a matter of weeks (days?) before the place sparkles red and green.

Friday

Threw some leftover Halloween Butterfingers into my bag. Mistake. Left it in the sun and got rewarded with a gooey mess. Serves me right.

Tuesday

Rain in the forecast. May be a good movie day. I hear the new one about Freddie Mercury is fab. And can check out progress on the Bell Tower remake.

Saturday

There’s nothing better than tasting some merlot in the mangroves. Thanks, SCCF, for your imaginative Wines in the Wild event.

Sunday

Met G and F in Venice for the Chalk Festival. You would not believe the pavement art there, especially the 3-D megalodon that seems to come right out of the street!

Wednesday

The “girls” decided to take a midweek boating excursion to Pine Island. It was Shrimp Day— jumbo peel ’n’ eats, 60 cents apiece!

Saturday

Hanging out in one of the easy chairs at Sanibel’s “reimagined” library, perusing some books I’ve been meaning to pick up. What a pleasure.

Sunday

Lazy weekend. Why not? Coffee and crossword on lanai this morning. May pull out some decorations later. The holidays inevitably approach.

Tuesday

Thinking of something tropical for Thanksgiving this year. Scallops? Mango chutney? Oh, and Key lime pie? It doesn’t always have to be turkey and dressing and pumpkin, does it?

Friday

Sunset dolphin cruise on the agenda. What a great way to decompress from family festivities. Beats the Black Friday madhouse.

Saturday

Deck the boats with boughs of holly. Matanzas Pass is the place to see and be seen in your decorated dinghy.

Monday

Forget online shopping. Downtown Fort Myers has some unique boutiques where holiday shopping is an event! With actual humans!

Friday

My neighbors have hung glittery snowflakes from their gumbo limbo. Really? Who are you fooling? It’s 85 degrees.

Sunday

A restful day before the onslaught. Northern family has decided to escape the icy December rains and experience Christmas in Southwest Florida. Joy!

Monday

Those blow-up Christmas decorations have got to go. Frosty always looks anemic and Rudolph may be drunk. Who thought those were a good idea?

Thursday

Tennis today was refreshing. The mercury slid downward for the first time in a while. Nice to start off with a jacket. Our Northern visitors saw no need for extra layers, though.

Monday

The year is winding down. I think a walk on the beach is in order. Let’s toast the sunset and move on to 2019.
