Summer fun at Barnes & Noble
Barnes & Noble Booksellers in Hamilton Place is sponsoring themed events through Aug. 7 during its “Get Pop- Cultured” summer promotion.
Each weekend will feature a local nonprofit agency. Customers can show their support by instructing the cashier that they want a portion of the sale to go to that weekend’s designated nonprofit.
› July 8-10: The Colonnade Players, a local theater company.
› July 15-17: Art120, whose projects are aimed at engaging youth, connecting underserved populations and expanding the visual presence of the creative arts community.
› July 21-23: Urban League of Greater Chattanooga, whose mission is to enable African-Americans and other disadvantaged people to secure economic self- reliance, parity, power and civil rights.
› July 29-31: Northside Neighborhood House, which provides education and assistance to residents who live north of the river.
› Aug. 5-7: Chattooine, a local fandom group whose members show up in costume at places including the Ronald McDonald House, schools, fundraising walks and movie openings.

FRIDAY, JULY 8
› Get Pop- Cultured: Finding Dory, 7 p. m. Celebrate all things Dory with a scavenger hunt, activities and giveaways.
SATURDAY, JULY 9
› Retro ’60s Day: Enjoy flower power, bell bottoms and tie- dye drinks in the cafe all day. At 4: 30 p. m. see excerpts from the Broadway musical “Godspell” performed by The Colonnade Players.
› Daisy- Head Mayzie storytime: 11 a. m. When a daisy sprouts from the top of Mayzie McGrew’s head, she is faced with classmates’ taunts, her parents’ dismay and a publicity agent’s greed. How Mayzie learns that love is more important than fame in this Dr. Seuss book makes an endearing morality tale for storytime. Activities follow.

› “Explorers of the World:” Storytime, 11 a. m. › Becoming a Barnes & Noble Author: 2 p. m. Free workshop for local authors to learn how to have a book signing at Barnes & Noble.
