Mountain Market raises bar on arts, crafts
More than 100 artists and crafters will converge in Monteagle, Tenn., this weekend for t he 57th annual Mountain Market for Arts & Crafts.
Mountain Market is open exclusively to artisans who display original, handmade arts and crafts or other homemade goods. No manufactured products are allowed.
Among the products to be showcased are fine art and folk art, paintings in a variety of media, stained glass, pottery, birdhouses, quilts, woodcrafts, toys, jewelry, cigar box art, metal art, soaps › Where: › Admission: › Phone: › Website: and lotions, local honey, embroidered baby items and doll clothing, knitting and hand-sewn items and fine, primitive and refurbished furniture. In addition to showcasing completed works, chainsaw carvers and blacksmiths will put their craftsmanship i nto action with demonstrations during the festival.
The Grundy County Arts Council will be on hand to help with the children’s craft area, Creation Station, where every child will leave with their own piece of art. Train rides also will be available for kids, and Hannah Pickett Park, where Mountain Market is staged, has playground equipment to keep the kids entertained.
Concessions will run the gamut from beans and barbecue to Mediterranean food, roasted corn and baklava. Breakfast will be served during the earliest hours each day. The park has picnic tables for seating.
Mountain Market is presented by the Monteagle Mountain Chamber of Commerce and the town of Monteagle.
