Dr. Oz talks ‘The Good Life’ in local stop

Area residents have a chance to start their day with Dr. Mehmet Oz on Wednesday, Aug. 17.

The host of the“Dr. Oz Show” will make a personal appearance at Embassy Suites at Hamilton Place to benefit the Believe campaign for the new T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital at Erlanger.

Oz is a professor of surgery at Columbia University whose research interests include heart replacemen­t surgery, minimally invasive surgery, alternativ­e medicine and health-care policy. He rose to fame as a featured health expert on “Oprah” in six seasons. He has written seven New York Times best-sellers, including “You: The Owner’s Manual.”

He writes a regular column for Oprah Magazine and Time. He has been named to Time magazine’s 75 Most Influentia­l People of the 21st Centu- ry and was deemed Most Influentia­l Celebrity by Forbes.

Now in its seventh season, “The Dr. Oz Show” is seen in 118 countries, airing locally on WDEF-TV Channel 12. Together, Oz and the show have been nominated for Daytime Emmy Awards 14 times, each claiming four trophies out of seven nomination­s.

There are two ticket options for his Chattanoog­a appearance.

The main event is Breakfast With Dr. Oz, catered by Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, from 8: 30 to 9:30 a.m., followed by a talk from 9: 30 to 10: 30 a. m. Tickets are $ 25. Oz will speak on “The Good Life: The Health You Really Want,” then take part in a question-and-answer session with the audience. Breakfast check-in starts at 8 a.m.

The $100 VIP Meet & Greet adds an opportunit­y for photos and autographs from 8 to 9 a.m. (breakfast and talk included). VIP check-in starts at 7:30 a.m.
