Live United at Chattanooga Market another chance to
Live United Day returns to Chattanooga Market on Sunday, Aug. 14, giving area residents a daylong celebration of all things United Way.
More than 172,000 people are served by United Way funded programs each year. The organization’s mission is to support the building blocks of a strong community: education, stability and support.
Held the third Sunday every August, Live United is designed as a kid- friendly event for the whole family. United Way partner programs will have booths set up throughout First Tennessee Pavilion with children’s games, arts, crafts and healthy activities for children and their families to enjoy.
A communitywide collection for the Stuff the Bus campaign is a highlight of the day. Last year, $50,000 in school supplies were collected at the market, says Kelley Nave, the United Way’s director of public relations. This year’s goal is $60,000.
Parents also can register their toddlers for free books and learning checkups. Every child under age 5 who completes a learning check-up at the market that day will be mailed a voucher for one free adult pass and one free child pass to the Creative Discovery Museum.
Chattanooga Market’s regular assortment of vendors with food, produce and handmade artisan goods also will be on-site. Musicians Roxie Randle and Rachel Solomon will entertain on the EPB Stage at 12:30 and 2 p.m. respectively.
Randle takes her inspiration from artists including Trisha Yearwood, Alanis Morissette and Shawn Colvin. Solomon spent a decade in Nashville as the keyboard player and background singer for the all- female country/rock
