Performers get into spirit of Fort Hill Cemetery tour
Lee University and the Bradley County Historical and Genealogical Society will combine forces for the 10th annual Walking Tour of Historic Fort Hill Cemetery on Sunday, Oct. 30.
Tours will be led by Lee University history majors and volunteers, who will introduce the community to several fascinating residents from 19th-century Cleveland and Bradley County who are buried in the historic section of Fort Hill. Students and l ocal performers dressed in period cost ume will r e - c r e ate snippets of these early residents’ lives.
This year’s historical characters are Fantroy and Ellen Soule Carter, James and Anna Inman, John and Mollie Trunk, J. C. and Sarah Steed, Luke and Addie Harle, Henry and Nancy Davis, William Lafayette and Tennessee Hicks, and James and Tena Grant Gilmore.
Tours begin at 4 p.m. and the last will begin shortly after 6 p.m. Cost is $ 5 per person, $2 for students. Proceeds are donated to the Bill Snell Scholarship Fund at Lee University.
Parking is available at the Boys and Girls Club, 385 Third St. SW. A van will shuttle guests to and from the tour site.
